Another visit to the orthopaedic surgeon :(

The picture tells it all.  Anna's arm after the
fall. She and Sam have been
swapping notes ever since the accident.
The Pipers are getting really good at broken arms here in Cyprus.  A few weeks ago had the joys once again of an evening visit to the emergency ward, this time with Anna in tow sporting a nicely broken arm gained as a result of a fall from some swings.  All this a mere 24 hours before we were due to depart for a summer holiday in the Balkans.

Given that we are now on first name terms with the local orthopaedic surgeon(!), Anna was fortunately able to be treated quickly. He ended up having to operate to reset her arm, and we thought that would be the end (or atleast deferral) of our planned holiday, given we were due to fly out to Belgrade the following evening.  But fear not! This is Cyprus, the laid back land of Aphrodite and the long summer holiday.  The Dr allowed Anna to fly by cutting her cast the very next day to prevent any problems at high altitude. So we breathed a sigh of relief and set off on our trip. More about the Balkan holiday in a blog to come.

The stoic patient
24 hours later and ready to travel (albeit feeling a little
weary)!

Meanwhile the long summer rolls on in Cyprus. This kids have all partaken in different activities over recent months, including camps, mountain picnics, lots of swimming and also a nightly ritual of sunset handball on the roof terrace of the house. Sarah and I have thoroughly enjoyed re-living our childhood primary school memories with the kids; teaching the terminology of 'service', 'battles', 'battle to the death' and 'king, queen, jack, dunce, ant and flea'. We're not quite sure of what the neighbours make of all the noise though?  At least they have awoken from their daily summer siesta by then!
